Dementia Learning Centre director and Age Concern New Zealand Board Member Dr. Kathy Peri is joined by Dr Makarena Dudley and Dr Gary Cheung, of the University of Auckland, to learn more about our brains.
The experts explore the latest research, the effect of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) and what people can do to help keep their brains healthy. Click the link below to listen.
At the heart of everything Age Concern does is a passion to see older people experience well-being, respect, dignity, and to be included and valued.
We support, inform and advise older people on issues such as access to health care, transport, housing, financial entitlements, and social opportunities.
We also work to combat real problems in our society, like elder abuse and neglect, chronic loneliness and social isolation. We provide specialist services with trained and qualified professionals able to give expert advice and assistance.
Age Concern is a charity and relies on the support of volunteers and public donations to do much of the work we do.
To help us help older people, please consider making a donation of your time or money. To see how, visit www.ageconcern.org.nz
Yes, I was also very interested in that programme which I thought was great. So encouraging for those struggling with dementia and motivation for others, I thought, who could do something the same. Very well produced I thought, didn’t you?
Unfortunately I could hardly hear what Gary was saying in this talk. His voice was very faint so I found that frustrating and it took away the enjoyment and effect of the pod cast.
I was very interested in the recent TVNZ programme “The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes”. Good insight into living with dementia.
